A family run print company in Tachikawa, in the western part Tokyo, Fukunaga Print Co. set off in a new direction in 2006. Their Kami no Kosakujo (Paper Workshop) project launched in this year, sought to pair their skills with imagination from Japan’s community of great designers. The Air Vase range is a successful outcome of this project, with the print company’s ability to work with paper matched to the structural imagination of the Torafu Architect’s studio. The gold stamping patterned airvase catches light to create an impressive, sparkling display. This is a paper bowl that enfolds air. You can freely change its shape to use it as a tray for small objects, decorate a vase, gift wrap a bottle of wine or present it as a piece of modern art. The thin and lightweight paper gives strength and resistance to the bowl. By expanding and compacting it in diverse ways, you can enjoy the ever-changing patterns.
Including two reversible designs.
