For his site-specific commission at ICA Miami, Nigerian Artist Odili Donald Odita presents Mamba Negra. Activated at the museum's main passageway, the two story installation was visible to visitor between the second and third floors, animating the vertical cantilevers of the museum's central stairwell. Mamba Negra celebrates Miami's vibrant and constantly evolving culture and identity, drawing its name from the eponymous dance and music party collective in Sao Paulo. Building on the artist's experience transforming spaces based on their contexts and functions, the instillation acted as and agent of Miami's effervescent character.
