Keiichi Tanaami “Omoshiro Book”
Keiichi Tanaami “Omoshiro Book”
Shonen Shojo Omoshiro Book was the first magazine published by Shueisha in 1949. The signature title was Shonen Oujya by Soji Yamakawa. Keiichi Tanaami, who was a junior high school student at the time of publication, would wait for the delivery truck at the bookstore on the day the magazine went on sale each month and buy a copy before it hit the shelves.
Seventy-five years after its first issue, Omoshiro Book will be republished under the artwork and art direction of Keiichi Tanaami. Globally acclaimed as an artist, Tanaami was the art director for the first issue of PLAYBOY Japan and has designed various magazines and books for Shueisha, including Myojo. For this project, Tanaami was involved not only in the design but also in the planning, collecting and weaving together what he felt was "interesting!" This book is a collection of what Tanaami finds fascinating.
